Series background & context

Providence Paranormal College is the starting point for much of D.R. Perry's Revealed World. The series takes place at an Ivy League school on Providence's East Side, where supernatural students and highly talented humans study together. Vampires, werewolves, changelings, psychics, fae, dragon shifters, kelpies, and magi can all be found on campus.

The college has recently broadened its admissions policy, and that change is not welcomed by everyone. Some people believe certain kinds of students do not belong. That prejudice becomes the thread linking the books, as a hidden opponent works to undermine the school's increasingly mixed community.

Each installment focuses on a different pair of students, giving the series a romantic, ensemble feel. Barely Awake introduces Bobby Tremain, a bear shifter battling the urge to hibernate just before finals, and Lynn Frampton, a brilliant but lonely human student who may be the only person able to help him stay awake. Fangs for the Memories brings together Maddie May, whose Umbral magic makes people forget her, and Henry Baxter, a psychic vampire who cannot forget anything.

The individual romances have their own problems, but they are also part of a larger campus story. Students are trying to pass classes, manage family expectations, understand their gifts, and find people who see them clearly. Meanwhile, the danger around the admissions policy keeps growing.

College life, with more claws and spells.

The later books widen the cast and the world. They include wolf shifters, dragons, djinn, faerie dangers, ghosts, musicians, and students whose special abilities bring unexpected responsibilities. The tone is a blend of paranormal romance, light urban fantasy, campus comedy, and mystery. The books move quickly, but the shared conflict rewards readers who follow the publication order.

Providence itself is more than a backdrop. The city's streets, neighborhoods, and nearby supernatural communities give the stories a local flavor. Perry uses that grounded setting to make the strange parts feel normal, whether a character is cramming for an exam, dealing with a difficult roommate, or heading into a magical crisis.

Begin with Barely Awake. From there, the series develops through connected couples and an expanding mystery about belonging, power, and the kind of community the college can become. It is a natural choice for readers looking for warm paranormal stories where romance and friendship matter as much as magical adventure.
