Project Solaris is the closest Chris Fox gets to a modern conspiracy thriller with superpowers. The setup is clean and pulpy. David works at a Bay Area startup, remembers being taken when he was fourteen, and knows the people he calls the grey men are coming back.

So he does what a Fox hero usually does. He prepares. He leans into technology, starts looking for others like him, and learns that the strange abilities left behind by those encounters may be the only edge humanity has.

The result feels smaller and more contemporary than Deathless, but it shares the same bones. Secret histories, shadow organizations, ancient builders, and the sense that the modern world is balanced on top of truths it was never meant to understand. Because the story happens earlier in the wider timeline, it also works as a useful doorway into that corner of Fox's universe.

What carries the books is the mix of chase energy and discovery. David is not wandering through abstract lore for its own sake. He is trying to survive, find allies, and get answers before the people hunting him close the gap.

The tone is quick, conspiratorial, and easy to picture. Think secret files, road-trip problem solving, strange powers, and clues buried in old myths.
