Series background & context
While The Magitech Chronicles throws you straight into gods, dragons, and fleet warfare, Magitech Legacy takes a slightly different route in. It starts with Jerek, a relic hunter who makes his living crawling through dead ships full of ancient magic-tech and trying not to get killed.
That scavenger angle gives the series its shape. The Great Ships of the Vagrant Fleet are dark, dangerous, and loaded with history, so every expedition feels a little like dungeon crawling in space. Fox gets a lot of mileage out of broken corridors, strange systems, forgotten weapons, and the simple fact that old technology is never really safe.
Jerek is the right guide for that world. He is practical, funny under pressure, and good at staying alive, but he keeps getting dragged into problems much bigger than one crew and one ship. His world is literally dying at the start, and saving it leads him into necromancers, dragon politics, ancient fleets, and the long shadow of the larger Magitech universe.
That bigger connection grows book by book. Familiar faces and major events from the main sequence begin to matter more, yet Magitech Legacy still keeps its own identity. It feels more like a relic hunt that snowballs into a sector-wide war, with Jerek forced to level up from scrapper captain to someone who might help decide the fate of civilizations.
The tone is adventurous, busy, and fun. There are undead fleets, cosmic storms, living weapons, and ships with names that sound like they belong in a myth.
If you like space fantasy with a strong treasure-hunting streak, and you enjoy watching a capable rogue get pulled into history-changing trouble, this is the branch of the Magitech setting to try.
