The request comes through Sophia, a member of an ancient secret society connected to the Delphic Oracle. Tara distrusts the group, partly because of its connection to her mother's death, and she does not want to reopen the parts of herself that depend on visions and cards.

The series works as an occult investigative thriller. Tara brings forensic training, psychological insight, instinct, and Tarot together, while the cases push her into conspiracies that blend scientific questions with mythic ones. Her partner in the field is Agent Harry Li, whose seriousness and patience make their working relationship complicated in more ways than one. Tara also has unfinished history with Richard Corvus, an old partner who now holds real power.

Start with Dark Oracle. Tara travels to Los Alamos after the scientist Lowell Magnusson disappears. Her search points toward Magnusson's daughter, competing agendas within the Daughters of Delphi, and a threat that reaches far beyond a single missing-person case. It introduces Tara's past, her fraught ties to the secret society, and the way her visions help while also making her doubt herself.

Rogue Oracle moves to a case involving vanished former Cold War operatives connected to the disposal of nuclear weapons in Russia. Harry suspects an arms conspiracy, but Tara's cards and dreams suggest a deeper danger. The investigation also puts pressure on Tara's relationships with Harry and the Daughters of Delphi.

These books are a good fit for readers who want psychic powers treated as part of a demanding investigation rather than an easy solution. Tara has useful gifts, but every answer opens another question, and knowing what may happen is not the same as being able to stop it.
