Molotov Obsession Books in Order

Molotov Obsession is a dark duet built around one of Anna Zaires's favorite setups: a woman on the run finds what looks like safety, only to discover that safety comes with a man who may be every bit as dangerous as the people she is hiding from. In this case, the woman is Chloe, and the man is Nikolai Molotov.

Chloe arrives at Nikolai's remote mountain estate because she needs a job and a place to disappear. The ad seems straightforward enough. Tutor a little boy. Stay out of trouble. Get paid. The problem is the boy's father. Nikolai is wealthy, bruised, magnetic, and unsettling in a way that makes it clear almost immediately that Chloe has not stepped into an ordinary household.

The estate feels safe until it does not.

That tension shapes both books. Devil's Lair uses the isolation of the mountain setting really well. Chloe has room to move, but not much room to escape the pull of Nikolai, or the suspicion that everybody in this house is keeping something back. He is capable of tenderness, but the series never lets you forget that he is also a killer, a Molotov, and a man who is used to controlling every variable around him.

Angel's Cage shifts the emphasis from guarded refuge to emotional imprisonment. By that point, Chloe knows more about Nikolai and his past, but knowledge does not make the situation simpler. If anything, it makes the relationship harder to resist and harder to trust. That is the hook of the duet: protector and captor are often the same person.

Compared with some of Zaires's larger series, this one is fairly contained. It is intimate, atmospheric, and focused on one household, one heroine in crisis, and one antihero whose obsession keeps tightening. Readers who like remote-estate settings, damaged but deeply attached heroes, and heroines who walk into danger because they have nowhere else to go tend to click with it quickly.

If you want a dark duet with a gothic modern feel and a strong isolation factor, Molotov Obsession delivers that well.
