The Krinar Chronicles is Anna Zaires's big sci-fi romance world, and it starts with a premise that immediately changes the emotional temperature of the story: Earth has already been taken over by the Krinar, an advanced alien race with technology humans barely understand. Close Liaisons, Close Obsession, and Close Remembrance follow the push and pull between Mia's need for freedom and Korum's determination to possess and protect her, all against a background of secrecy, politics, and the uneasy relationship between humans and their conquerors.

This is not space opera. It is romance first, with occupation-era tension wrapped around it.

One of the strengths of the Krinar books is the way they make the world feel bigger without losing the intimacy of a central couple. The tech is sleek, the settings range from New York to the Krinar colony of Lenkarda and beyond, and there is always a sense that larger forces are moving in the background. But the books keep returning to the same core question: what happens when love grows in a situation shaped by unequal power, divided loyalties, and species-level mistrust?

The wider Krinar universe adds variety to that setup. The X-Club and The Krinar Exposé shift the focus to another human and another dangerous Krinar, with a more overtly erotic, tabloid-meets-alien-underground angle. The Krinar Captive goes back several years before Mia and Korum's story and shows a different kind of relationship during the invasion era. Swept Away reaches even further back, using a shorter format to show an earlier Krinar-human connection.

So while readers often think of the series as Mia and Korum's trilogy, it is really a small shared universe. Some books are darker, some are more adventurous, and some work almost like side doors into the setting.
