It has the warm, slightly ridiculous charm that Elliot does well, but it also keeps building the sense that this town remembers everything and watches everyone.

Then Wood You Rather? widens the plot.

That book pairs private investigator Parker Harding with broody lumberjack Pascal Gagnon. Fake dating gives them cover while they dig into questions surrounding Pascal's father's accident, and that investigative thread becomes important to the larger feel of the series. By this point Lovewell is not just a cute setting. It is a place with unfinished business.

Wood Riddance brings that tension even closer to the center through Adele Gagnon and Finn Hebert. Their families have been feuding for years, which makes a secret relationship risky enough before pregnancy and outside danger raise the stakes. The romance is still front and center, but the series has clearly grown into something bigger than a string of isolated couples.

That mix is what gives Lovewell Lumberjacks its appeal. You get the flirty banter, the wood-chopping heroes, the small-town shenanigans, and the recurring comic touches, including one memorable moose. But you also get a real sense of momentum from book to book, especially once the family feud and town mystery start tightening.

These books are written as standalones, so each couple gets a full arc. Still, this is one of those series that becomes richer in order. The town history, the Gagnon family dynamic, and the shifting alliances all matter more when you watch them build.
