Series background & context

The Juniper Meadows novels trade the coast for the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. The series follows the extended Travers family, who live and work on an estate that has been in their hands for generations and is now packed with small businesses, projects and more than a few secrets.

In Where We Belong, Hope Travers appears to have an idyllic life in the farmhouse she shares with her mum, aunt, uncles and cousin, plus an unruly pack of dogs. When construction on the estate uncovers what might be historic ruins, an archaeological dig puts the family’s history under the microscope and brings archaeologist Cameron Ferguson into Hope’s orbit. As sabotage and buried truths come to light, Hope has to decide how much of the past she is willing to disturb.

In From the Cold introduces Ben Lawson, a man whose world tilts on its axis when a stranger at his father’s funeral claims to be his sister. Searching for answers, he visits Juniper Meadows and meets Amelia Riley, who has her own complicated reasons for wanting to untangle the Travers family story. Their connection grows while both of them confront lies, loyalty and the possibility of building something honest together.

In Come Rain or Shine, the spotlight turns to Rhys Travers, the heir who takes the responsibility of the estate so seriously that there is little room left for personal happiness. Corporate consultant Tasha Blake arrives to work on a project and quickly falls for the slower pace, the beauty of the land and the chaotic warmth of the Travers clan. The real question is whether she and Rhys can imagine a shared future that honours both ambition and roots.

Snow is Falling brings the series into full festive mode. Sadie Bingham, reeling from a major upheaval in her life, is treated by her grown-up children to a Christmas break at Juniper Meadows and throws herself into the estate’s Twelve Days of Christmas programme. There she meets Dylan Travers, who has not been back in decades but has returned with his teenagers to reconnect with the family he left behind. Their friendship, and maybe more, unfolds alongside difficult reckonings with past choices.

Taken together, the books sketch a large, messy, loving family whose history is written into every field boundary and crumbling stone wall.

These are quieter, countryside romances where the stakes are often emotional rather than dramatic, but they still carry plenty of tension in the form of unspoken grievances, old rumours and the fear of change. Juniper Meadows itself, with its farm tracks, converted barns and hidden corners, feels like somewhere readers could happily spend a long, restorative weekend.
