Jenny Lopez Has a Bad Week
by Lindsey Kelk
2011
Back in New York after a summer in LA, Jenny Lopez is suddenly without a boyfriend, a job or a roommate. Determined to fix everything in a day, she lines up a new flatmate, two dates and a supermodel client—then chaos hits.
Series background & context
Jenny Lopez begins life in the I Heart novels as Angela Clark’s outrageous New York best friend, the woman who knows every bar, every sale rail and every way to fix a broken heart with cocktails and karaoke. The Jenny Lopez novellas step away from Angela’s point of view and hand Jenny the microphone.
In Jenny Lopez Has a Bad Week, she returns to New York after a stint working in Los Angeles to find herself without the three pillars she relies on: a roommate, a boyfriend and a job. Her solution is pure Jenny – make a plan, get dressed up and assume everything will bend to her will. Within a day she has lined up a new flatmate, two dates and a gig looking after a demanding supermodel, only for the whole plan to unravel in spectacular fashion.
Jenny Lopez Saves Christmas catches up with her a little later, determined to drag a distinctly un‑festive Angela to a snowy cabin and stage the ultimate holiday. Power cuts, missing food deliveries, a tree that will not cooperate and some unexpected guests turn it into a slapstick survival mission, complete with a new romantic complication for Jenny herself.
Across both stories you see more of her work as a stylist, her fiercely loyal streak and the softer edges that don’t always come through when she’s the comic relief. Jenny can be outrageous, selfish and a little bit of a disaster magnet, but she will also cross a continent to cheer up her friends and refuse to let anyone settle for a dull life.
The novellas are short, fast reads that slot neatly between the main I Heart novels, filling in gaps and giving extra time with fan‑favourite side characters like supermodel flatmate Sadie. They’re best enjoyed once you already know Angela and Jenny, but they also stand alone as fizzy New York adventures about friendship, chaos and second chances.
