Holiday High is Kellie McAllen's contemporary YA romance series, built around teenagers navigating school, family expectations, embarrassing mistakes, and the first real chance at love. Then comes April Fools' Joke, where a humiliating prank gives KC a very clear reason to dislike Jake Matthews. KC plans revenge through an online persona designed to win Jake's heart and break it. Her plan is neat in theory. Feelings, unsurprisingly, are not neat.

The stakes are personal, not world-ending.

Holiday High works best for readers who enjoy fast, light teen romance with a little chaos built into the premise. The characters are dealing with high-school social rules, friends who may or may not be helpful, and the fear of becoming a joke in front of everyone. McAllen uses holidays and seasonal ideas as a springboard, but the stories are really about the risks of being honest when it would be easier to keep playing a part.
