Series background & context
The Siren series follows Coral, a mermaid princess raised to accept a future that has already been planned for her. She is expected to marry Kai, inherit responsibility for her shoal, and remain in the sea. Coral has spent her life under rules that keep mermaids away from the human world, but she cannot stop wondering whether there is more beyond the water.
Then she runs.
In The Mermaid's Escape, Coral flees the marriage arranged for her and winds up stranded on an island after a shipwreck. Four human divers, Avery, Gio, Jude, and Liam, arrive there too. Coral has little experience with the surface world, and the men know nothing about the full truth of who she is. Their time together turns the simple question of how to get home into a much bigger question about where Coral belongs.
The Mermaid's Journey follows Coral as she tries to explore life on land after escaping the restrictions that once bound her to the sea. She is drawn to the four men and to the freedom of the human world, but the choices she makes cannot be separated from her identity as a mermaid. The relationship is a reverse-harem romance, with Coral's connection to all four men forming a central part of the series.
The ocean is not left behind just because Coral reaches land.
By The Mermaid's Return, Coral discovers that the merfolk world is larger and more complicated than she had been taught. New information about her past forces her to reconsider old loyalties and the stories she believed about her family. She wants to protect her people, but returning to the sea could mean losing the life and relationships she has made on land.
The series uses a familiar mermaid-fantasy setup, then makes Coral's choices the engine of the story. She is not simply trying to find romance. She is trying to decide whether duty, history, and the wishes of other people get to determine her future. The four men offer love and support, but Coral still has to face the decisions only she can make.
Read these books in order. The romance, the underwater world-building, and the revelations about Coral's past all develop across the trilogy. Expect fantasy adventure, mermaid lore, secrets, and a relationship structure that is more expansive than a one-couple romance. The tone is romantic and adventurous, with the pull between sea and shore never far from the surface.
