Series background & context

Heart on the Run is Greiman in action mode. These books lean into modern romantic suspense, with military and intelligence backgrounds, dangerous assignments, and couples who meet under terrible circumstances and then have to keep moving.

The first book, Angel Down, sets the tone. Gabriel Durrand is trying to bring missing ex-Army Ranger Linus Shepherd home from Colombia, and the mission throws him together with CIA operative Jennifer Eddy Edwards. The setup is part rescue story, part hostile partnership, and part romance, which is exactly the balance the series likes.

The second book, Sweet Devil, stays in the same orbit but shifts focus to Linus Shepherd and Carlotta Osorio. By then, the emotional stakes are even more personal. Past betrayals, divided loyalties, and family danger matter just as much as the bullets and the jungle. Greiman keeps the pace high, but she does not forget that these are romance novels. The action exists to squeeze the characters hard enough that they have to tell the truth.

That is the series pattern in a nutshell. The heroes tend to be trained, capable, and carrying old damage. The heroines are not there to be rescued in any simple way. They are field-ready, sharp, and often keeping secrets of their own. Nobody gets an easy ride.

If you like your romance with covert missions, international settings, tense banter, and a good amount of danger, Heart on the Run delivers exactly that. It is a short series, but it wastes very little time.
