Author bio
G.K. DeRosa has been a reader for as long as she can remember. One of the small details she has shared about her childhood says a lot about the way stories have always followed her around: while living in Italy at age two, she memorized an entire children's book in Italian and turned the pages at exactly the right time. Later, she has said that early teachers in Catholic school helped deepen her love of English and literature.
Books came first.
Writing, at least as a career, took the long way around. DeRosa studied International Business rather than creative writing, which fits with another thread that shows up often in her life, a love of travel and foreign places. After moving to New York City, she started a restaurant review blog called City Lights and Tasty Bites, giving her a place to write regularly while also leaning into another longtime interest, food.
Then reading pulled her back toward fiction.
She has talked about how the pace of New York, plus long commutes, gave her more time to read again. After tearing through books across different genres and eventually returning to her home state of Florida, she felt the urge to write a story of her own. She picked writing back up in her early thirties, and that decision turned into Wilder, her first novel and the beginning of her Guardian series.
That early series set the pattern for a lot of what readers now expect from her work. Wilder, Wilder Destiny, Wilder Revelation, and Wilder Legacy mix romance with supernatural danger, family secrets, and a heroine who learns her life is much bigger than she thought. From there she kept building, first with Magic Bound and the Hybrid books, then with connected series set in the world of Azar, including Hitched, Darkblood Academy, Wolfish, and Vampish.
Her books tend to move fast. They usually center on a young woman who gets thrown into a hidden world of wolves, vampires, fae, witches, angels, or all of the above, then has to figure out who she can trust while the stakes keep rising. Readers who like magic schools, fated mates, rival supernatural factions, and romance tangled up with danger will probably see why her catalog has grown the way it has.
A few titles give a good sense of her range. The Bachelorette plays with reality show drama inside a supernatural world. Half-Blood leans into academy tension and hidden powers. Moonborne brings in wolf pack politics and cursed mates. The Hunt shifts into vampire hunters, rebel factions, and a sharper enemies-to-lovers edge. Even when the setup changes, the through line is familiar: strong emotional hooks, lots of secrets, and worlds that connect in satisfying ways.
She has also continued to branch into bigger fantasy romance worlds beyond those earlier YA and crossover paranormal books, while still keeping the same love of high stakes emotion and magical conflict. She is a USA Today bestselling author, and she has spoken about how much she enjoys staying close to readers, including through serialized fiction and online extras.
These days, DeRosa lives in South Florida with her family. When she isn't writing, she has said she loves reading, traveling, and watching far too many TV shows.
She still sounds a lot like a fan who got to build the kinds of worlds she wanted to escape into.
