Forgotten Realms: The Lost Gods Books in Order

The Lost Gods books connected to Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb pick up threads from the Finder's Stone stories, but they head into a different kind of danger. The focus is no longer only on a band of travelers facing monsters or magical artifacts. Here, faith, divine power, and the survival of gods themselves are part of the problem.

The entry point is Finder's Bane. Its central character is Joel, a young priest of Finder Wyvernspur, who gave up the settled status of a master bard to serve a new god. When a plot emerges to bring the dead god Bane back to life, Joel is pulled into a mission involving the Hand of Bane, an artifact no sensible person would want left in the wrong hands.

He does not go alone.

Joel travels with Holly Harrowslough, a freedom fighter, the mysterious winged woman Jas, and the aging priest Jedidiah. Their journey leads beyond the familiar lands of the Forgotten Realms to Sigil, a city at the center of the planes. That change of setting gives the story a broader map, while Joel's uncertainty about his calling keeps the stakes personal.

Tymora's Luck follows Joel and several returning allies into another crisis with roots in the Realms' divine history. Tymora and Beshaba, rival goddesses of good and bad luck, face a threat from someone trying to reunite them into the earlier goddess Tyche. Joel must find out who is behind their abduction and stop a plan whose consequences could touch everyone who relies on luck, which is nearly everyone.

These are high-stakes fantasy adventures, but they are carried by a small group of people working through fear, loyalty, and very bad odds. Expect quests, gods with complicated histories, mysterious relics, and enough planar travel to make the world feel larger without losing sight of the characters.

Read Finder's Bane before Tymora's Luck. The second book works best when you already know Joel, Finder, Jas, and Holly, and when the earlier struggle over Bane's return is still fresh.
