Author bio

Eva Leigh is a USA Today bestselling romance author best known for Regency-set historical romance with working women, sharp bargains, and a lot of heat. She also writes in other romance genres as Zoë Archer, and has used her real name, Ami Silber, for fiction outside the Eva Leigh pen name.

Leigh is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, which gives her an unusual path into romance. She brings a workshop-trained eye for structure and character, but her books stay readable and playful. The point is never to admire the wallpaper. The point is to watch people want things they are not supposed to want.

That is very much the fun.

Her public bio does not dwell on a birthplace or childhood hometown, but she has talked often about the pop culture that shaped her. 1980s movies and music show up in her imagination, especially in the Union of the Rakes books. She also has a long-running interest in Regency England, not just the ballrooms, but the printers, theatres, gaming hells, clubs, businesses, and back streets that made the period feel alive.

Her Eva Leigh debut, Forever Your Earl, introduced The Wicked Quills of London, a series about women writers who are trying to keep control of their work and their lives. Scandal Takes the Stage follows a playwright under pressure, while Temptations of a Wallflower gives its quiet heroine a very private, very risky writing career. Readers who like Leigh often respond to that mix: witty historical setups, frank desire, and heroines who need more than a good marriage.

She kept pushing beyond polite drawing rooms in From Duke Till Dawn, Counting on a Countess, and Dare to Love a Duke. Those London Underground books move through con games, smuggling, and secret clubs, pairing aristocratic men with women who have practical skills and real reasons to protect themselves. Then My Fake Rake flipped the makeover plot by turning the shy scholar hero into the fake rake, while The Good Girl's Guide to Rakes started a new set of bargains, scandals, and reluctant respectability.

Her later work also moved into higher-heat historical novellas and romantasy. The Sea Witch launches Salt & Sorcery with pirate witches, sea magic, and a Caribbean chase that feels different from her Regency titles but still cares about freedom, consent, and women choosing their own course.

Off the page, Leigh lives on the Central California coast with her husband and cats. She has mentioned baking, painting, crocheting amigurumi, spending time online, and listening to 80s music as favorite ways to unwind.

The cats are part of the picture, too.
