Series background & context

Dukes Most Wanted returns to the Victorian world around Notorious Ladies of London, but with a fun structural twist. These romances are tied together by a country house party and a shared circle of women, which gives the whole series a close, companionable feel. Everyone is in the same orbit, which means one person's awkward moment is usually another person's excellent gossip.

That setup makes the books feel quick, connected, and easy to binge. A heroine can be center stage in one story and quietly stirring up trouble in the background of the next. The atmosphere is more intimate than city-wide scandal, but there is still plenty at stake, inheritance problems, old heartbreaks, ruined reputations, fake engagements, and a lot of people insisting they absolutely do not want the person they very clearly want.

That denial never lasts long.

Forever Her Duke opens with estranged spouses forced back into each other's company. Forever Her Marquess leans into enemies-to-lovers and a fake betrothal. Forever Her Rake gives a wallflower her turn to stop behaving. Forever Her Earl, Forever Her Viscount, and Forever Her Scot keep widening the emotional range, bringing in American heiresses, reclusive noblemen, and marriages of convenience with real bite.

The country house party frame also lets Scott play with repeated themes, women's independence, friendship, social performance, and the difference between what a match looks like on paper and what it feels like in practice.

If you want Victorian romance with linked couples, a shared setting, and a lighter but still emotional series rhythm, Dukes Most Wanted is a very comfortable place to settle in.
