Series background & context

Wicked Dukes Society is a Victorian series built around exactly the kind of premise Scarlett Scott knows how to enjoy, a set of notorious dukes, a private circle with a scandalous reputation, and house parties where everybody should probably make better decisions than they do.

The series carries over some of the emotional and social textures of Wicked Husbands, but the tone here is a bit more decadent. These are men with titles, appetites, and messy pasts. They host dangerous little gatherings, attract rumor like a magnet, and then find themselves knocked sideways by women who are not interested in following the script.

That imbalance is the whole point.

Duke with a Reputation starts with a single father duke, an inconvenient child, and a marriage of convenience that refuses to stay convenient. Duke with a Debt mixes blackmail, financial desperation, and old hurt. Duke with a Secret leans into wagers and clandestine arrangements. Duke with a Lie brings in a lady determined to seduce the one man she should avoid. Later books keep widening the society with more second chances, hidden wounds, and scandal-ready setups.

A private world of duke friends helps hold the books together, but the recurring house-party structure is just as important. It gives Scott a natural stage for rivalry, temptation, gossip, and characters from one romance to drift into another.

If you want Victorian romance that is rich in chemistry, packed with arrogant dukes getting thoroughly unsettled, and happy to flirt with a slightly more sinful atmosphere, Wicked Dukes Society is likely to be your sort of series.
