Dark Days Books in Order

Dark Days is the series that introduced Drake's fiction to readers, and it still gives a clear sense of what she likes to do. The books follow Mira, a centuries-old nightwalker with a rare command of fire, and Danaus, the vampire hunter who begins as an enemy and becomes something much harder to define. Their connection drives the emotional side of the series, but the scope around them is much larger.

This is urban fantasy that likes to travel.

Mira is not sitting in one city solving one case at a time. She is tied to ancient organizations, old supernatural laws, and threats big enough to shake the whole world. The naturi, the nightwalker power structure, and later conflicts with covens and hidden forces keep the arc moving forward from book to book.

What makes the series work is the push and pull between Mira's personal history and the wider apocalypse brewing around her. She is powerful, but not safe. Danaus is deadly, but not simple. The books keep testing how much either of them can trust the other while the supernatural world keeps getting worse.

The tone is darker and more action-driven than many of Drake's later romances. There is desire here, but it sits inside a true urban fantasy structure, battles, betrayals, ancient enemies, and real end-of-the-world pressure.
