Series background & context

Cursed Studies drops its heroine into a school that feels wrong from the moment she arrives. Trix comes to Roseborne College looking for her missing foster brother, only to find a place where people deny he ever existed, the staff seem more interested in torment than teaching, and the nights are full of sobs, howls, and things better left unseen.

It is not a normal campus mystery.

Roseborne is the heart of the series. The school is isolated, haunted, and held together by a curse that touches everyone inside it. A wall of roses traps the students. Malicious spirits lurk at the edges of every decision. Even the characters who might help Trix are carrying wounds and secrets of their own. That includes the three men she is drawn toward, each damaged in a different way and each tied to the school’s darkness.

The books lean into gothic atmosphere without becoming slow. Trix is always digging, testing people, and trying to stay one step ahead of the forces working against her. Her search for her brother gives the series its first push, but the real story becomes bigger than one disappearance. It turns into a fight over who controls Roseborne, what the curse wants, and what Trix herself is capable of.

Her backstory matters too. Trix is not entering the series from a place of safety or confidence. She has already learned hard lessons about trust and self-worth, so part of the emotional arc is watching her decide that she deserves more than survival. That gives the romance real weight.

The school wants to break her.

If you like paranormal academy stories with haunted halls, trapped students, wounded heroes, and a heroine who has to uncover both external and internal truths, Cursed Studies delivers that mix very well. It is tense, moody, and full of the feeling that every answer is going to come with a price.
