Company Books in Order

The Company series leans more into friendship drama and women's fiction energy than a simple couple-per-book romance setup. At the center is a circle of longtime friends, the sistahs, who love each other deeply, judge each other freely, and somehow keep showing up for one another even when everybody is making questionable choices.

The story really begins with In the Company of My Sistahs, when a trip to Jamaica throws four women into close quarters at exactly the wrong, and right, time. Romance, secrets, identity questions, bad timing, and long-buried pain all come to the surface. That first book sets the tone for everything that follows. These are stories about friendship under pressure, not friendship as background wallpaper.

As the series continues through Trouble Loves Company, Careful of the Company You Keep, and Misery & Company, the emotional stakes stay adult and messy. Marriages crack. Affairs complicate things. Addiction, grief, fear, sexuality, and self-sabotage all show up. Daniels lets the characters make mistakes, and that is part of what gives the series its pull. Nobody is polished. Nobody is always right.

Renee becomes one of the big through-lines, but the wider friend group is what really holds the series together. One woman may be chasing love in the wrong place while another is trying to save a marriage, hide a secret, or figure out what kind of life she actually wants. Those personal stories overlap, which means the books reward being read in order.

The tone can be funny, sharp, and sexy, but it is never lightweight for long. Daniels is interested in what happens after the fantasy version of romance falls apart. What do these women do then? Who do they become? And which friendships can survive the truth?

If you want Angie Daniels at her most ensemble-driven, with layered female friendships and a lot of emotional spillover from one book to the next, this series is a strong place to land. It is dramatic, yes, but the drama is rooted in people who feel like they could walk off the page and call you with a problem.
