Author bio

Amelia Hutchins was born in Spokane, Washington, and eventually settled in the Pacific Northwest, where rain, forests, and a lively household give her plenty of fuel for the worlds she builds.

Before she ever published a book, she was the reader who devoured anything paranormal she could get her hands on—fae, vampires, witches, demons, all of it. That love of magic and mayhem made its way onto the page once she started writing her own stories.

Her debut novel, Fighting Destiny, launched The Fae Chronicles in 2013 and quietly kicked off a whole connected universe. What began as one witch enforcer forced to work with a fae prince has grown into multiple series filled with demons, dragons, wolves, and monsters who all brush up against one another.

Hutchins is best known for fast‑paced, high‑heat fantasy romance that doesn’t flinch away from darker themes. Series like The Fae Chronicles and Playing with Monsters lean into “alpha‑hole” heroes and the women who refuse to be broken by them, mixing court politics and apocalyptic stakes with snark, violence, and messy, evolving relationships.

With Flames of Chaos and the Legacy of the Nine Realms books, she stepped into full epic fantasy. Those novels follow witch Aria Hecate and ruthless king Knox across warring realms, curses, and battles where gods interfere a little too often. The worldbuilding is bigger, but the heartbeat is the same: characters clawing for control in a universe that would rather write their fate for them.

She also plays in smaller, punchy projects. The Urban Fantasy Romance / Damsel books starting with Bulletproof Damsel give readers a weapons‑obsessed heroine and a Van Helsing heir locked in an ancient feud. Standalones and shared‑world novellas like Immortal Hexes, Forever Immortal, and A Discovery of Demonology let her experiment with new corners of paranormal romance without leaving her trademark intensity behind.

Hutchins is open about the fact that she doesn’t set out to write tidy romances. Her stories are full of consent‑pushing power dynamics, flawed people, and characters who sometimes make terrible choices before they grow into better ones. For many readers, that rawness is exactly the draw.

Away from the keyboard, she’s a self‑professed coffee addict who jokes about turning “magical potions of caffeine” into books. She lives in Washington with a tall, noisy family she lovingly calls a house full of giants, and she stays active in an online reader group where she talks books, teases upcoming projects, and amplifies other indie authors.

If you’re looking for cozy, low‑angst fantasy, she probably isn’t your author. If you want sharp‑tongued heroines, dangerous worlds, and romances that feel like surviving a war together, Amelia Hutchins has built an entire universe for you to get lost in.
