The Fixer
by Amelia Hutchins
2023
Chevelle Reed is the fixer powerful people call when their reputations are on fire. Her newest client, Raithe Dravyn, is a non-human syndicate boss with his eye on the presidency, and cleaning up his past drags her into a bloody, addictive world of politics and monsters.
Series background & context
The Supernatural Syndicate takes the idea of a political fixer and drops her into a world where the candidate is literally a monster.
In The Fixer, Chevelle Reed is very good at one thing: salvaging the public images of terrible men. She polishes scandals, buries bodies in the paperwork, and makes sure her clients look respectable enough for the cameras. None of that prepares her for Raithe Dravyn.
Raithe runs a supernatural crime syndicate and has his sights set on the presidency of the United States. He is not remotely human, his past is soaked in blood, and the only way he can plausibly reach his goal is if someone like Chevelle rewrites the story the world tells about him.
What starts as a job offer she can refuse quickly becomes something else when Raithe decides “no” isn’t an acceptable answer. Chevelle wakes up entangled in his world, bound by contracts and attractions she doesn’t entirely understand. Cleaning up his history means confronting just how much horror the voting public is willing to ignore if the packaging is pretty enough.
The tension here isn’t just romantic; it’s moral. Chevelle has to decide where her own lines are, how much truth she’s willing to bury for survival, and whether the monster in front of her is any worse than the systems that created him.
If you like your paranormal romance with political intrigue, media spin, and a hero who is unapologetically savage, The Supernatural Syndicate gives you that mix.
