The Darkest Fae introduces a corner of the universe where the hunters who police monsters are just as dangerous as the creatures they track.

The series opens with King of the Shadow Fae and centers on Xariana Anderson, a guild hunter who has spent her entire life training to take over the hunter guild. When her father is taken, she steps into leadership early—and almost immediately everything begins to fall apart.

Xariana’s transition should have been straightforward. Instead, bodies from Otherworld species start turning up around the city, enemies attack from every angle, and an infuriating new player named Kieran Knight arrives with his own agenda and a talent for pulling strings in every immortal house.

The core tension here is control. Xariana is used to being the most capable person in the room, but running a guild is very different from surviving the next hunt. Kieran wants to own her, politically and personally, and the more she pushes back, the more entangled they become in each other’s plans.

Tonally, The Darkest Fae reads like dark urban fantasy: modern streets, hidden supernatural politics, and a heroine caught between duty to the people she protects and the pull of a man who keeps blowing up her carefully laid rules.

If you enjoy prickly heroines, morally suspect fae kings, and stories where the monster under the bed might be the only one standing between you and something worse, this series is a good fit.
