The Devil of London

by Amelia Hutchins

2023

Three hundred years ago, Aderyn crossed the infamous Devil of London and earned a debt he never forgot. When Khaos Nasir comes to collect her soul instead of her life, she plots to topple his empire of sin, even as ancient bonds and vengeful gods pull them back together.

Series background & context

Red Flag is where Amelia Hutchins lets her imagination run wild with sin, debts, and very old gods.

The first book, The Devil of London, introduces Aderyn, a woman who made one disastrous choice three hundred years ago when she walked into the Sinner’s Den and set it on fire. That single act put her in the crosshairs of Khaos Nasir—the so‑called Devil of London—who never forgets a debt.

When Khaos finally comes to collect, he doesn’t want Aderyn’s life; he wants her soul bound to his for eternity. She answers by plotting to topple his entire empire of vice and remind him why queens are the most dangerous piece on the board.

Layered over their personal war is something older and stranger. Before humans ever walked the earth, Khaos and Aderyn were creatures of darkness bound together and then punished by the gods. Now, every time they circle each other in modern London, they’re also fighting against a curse that lets them exist side‑by‑side but never truly together.

Red Flag blends dark romance, myth, and a hint of crime saga. There are clubs, bargains, and power plays, but also questions about fate, free will, and what you’d sacrifice to finally break a cycle that keeps ripping you apart.

If you like your paranormal romance extra sinful, full of morally dubious choices, and laced with a sense that the gods are watching and taking notes, this series scratches that itch.
