Zoe Sugg Books in Order

Zoe Sugg was born Zoe Elizabeth Sugg on March 28, 1990, in Lacock, Wiltshire. She grew up in the area and attended The Corsham School, where she studied art, photography, and textiles.

Her route into public work wasn't mapped out early. Anxiety made university feel like the wrong next step, and she took an apprenticeship with an interior design company while figuring out what she wanted to do.

Then, in February 2009, she started a blog called Zoella.

The blog covered fashion, beauty, and everyday life, and Sugg began making videos that same year. Under the Zoella name, she built an audience with chatty, practical content about routines, products, home life, and the small things that made people feel connected. She also spoke openly about anxiety and panic attacks, subjects that became an important part of her public work.

It was a very early example of a personal online hobby turning into a full-time creative career.

In 2014, Sugg moved into fiction with Girl Online. The novel follows Penny Porter, a teenager who writes an anonymous blog while trying to handle friendship problems, first love, school pressure, and panic attacks. The book had a huge first week in the United Kingdom and introduced a character whose online and offline lives are constantly colliding.

Penny's story continued in Girl Online: On Tour and Girl Online: Going Solo. The sequels keep the focus on the messier side of a dream romance, including life on the road with musician Noah Flynn, changing friendships, public attention, and the question of how to move forward when plans fall apart. Readers often come to these books for their contemporary setting, blog entries, friendship drama, and gentle coming-of-age feel.

Sugg also wrote Cordially Invited, a non-fiction guide to hosting and celebrating through the seasons. It reflects the part of her work built around making ordinary gatherings feel thoughtful, with recipes, crafts, planning ideas, and personal touches for events both big and small.

In 2020, she returned to fiction with Amy McCulloch for The Magpie Society: One for Sorrow, followed by Two for Joy. The young adult mystery takes place at a boarding school with a murder, anonymous messages, and a hidden society at its center. McCulloch wrote Audrey's chapters and Sugg wrote Ivy's, while the pair developed the larger story together.

Sugg continues to work across digital media, lifestyle projects, and books. Her bibliography is small but varied, moving from online coming-of-age stories to home entertaining and a darker school-set mystery.
