Santa is not exactly jolly, Mrs. Claus is dangerous, and Scrooge is a brooding, magnetic figure with his own agenda.

The line between hallucination and reality frays as Alice is pulled between this violent, seductive world and the people back home who think she is losing her mind. By Ascending From Madness, her story tangles with an asylum, a therapist who is more villain than healer, and ghosts of holiday legends who may be the only ones on her side. Alice has to decide whether embracing her madness is the only way to survive.

Later books shift to Dinah, Alice’s responsible, tightly wound sister. In Beauty In Her Madness and Beast In His Madness, Dinah’s carefully ordered life starts to crack under nightmares, disembodied voices, and the arrival of two brothers who are far more than they appear. Drawn back into Winterland, she becomes entangled with a beastly figure and the plot to restore the Blood‑Red Queen to her throne.

As the series barrels toward its finale, familiar faces from earlier books return and the war between naughty and nice turns literal. Battles play out across snowy battlefields and warped fairytale landscapes, with Dinah and Alice fighting not just external villains but the parts of themselves they have tried to deny.
