Willowmere Books in Order

Willowmere is a linked Regency series built around the Bascombe sisters, four American young women who cross the Atlantic after their mother's death and try to claim a place with their aristocratic English relatives. That premise gives the series immediate energy. The women are outsiders, London society is suspicious, and the old family wound that sent their mother away has never really healed.

The first book, A Lady Never Tells, introduces Mary and sets the sisters on the path to Willowmere, the family estate where they are supposed to acquire polish and proper manners. From there, A Gentleman Always Remembers and An Affair Without End widen the circle to include widows, bachelors, chaperones, and members of the extended Stewkesbury family.

The American edge matters.

These heroines do not always behave the way London expects, and that is a big part of the charm. Camp uses the culture clash for humor and friction, but she also lets it sharpen the romance. The men may have titles and better manners, yet they are often the ones caught off guard.

There is also a nice thread of suspense running through the books. Kidnapping attempts, blackmail, and jewel theft keep the plot moving while the relationships develop. That makes Willowmere more than a debut-season series. It is about belonging, reinvention, and the question of how much a woman should change in order to be accepted.
