Series background & context

The Wanted: Superheroes books are Bryan Davis in a lighter, younger-reader mode. The core team is simple and fun, twelve-year-old Eddie Hertz, a genius with gadgets and big superhero dreams, and his eight-year-old sister Samantha, whose energy often outruns everybody else's caution.

They live in Nirvana, a city that badly needs help, because the villain Mephisto never seems to run out of wild plans. One book throws an earthquake machine at the city. Another turns toward hypnotizing gas and mind-controlled crowds. Another adds weaponized birds and antigravity gear. The threats escalate fast, but the stories keep the focus on Eddie and Samantha figuring out how to use brains, courage, and sibling teamwork under pressure.

The books are hectic on purpose.

That pace is part of the charm. These stories lean into comic-book energy, strange inventions, big set pieces, and a city always one step away from disaster. At the same time, Davis keeps the emotional center grounded in family. Eddie wants to be brave, but he also wants to protect the people close to him. Samantha is funny and unpredictable, yet she is never just comic relief. She changes the outcome because she is bold enough to act when the adults freeze.

If you are looking for deep world politics, this is not that series. If you want a fast, funny, kid-friendly superhero adventure with clear heroes, memorable villainy, and a brother-sister duo at the center, Wanted: Superheroes does exactly what it promises.
