Author bio
Uvi Poznansky was born in Israel, and the mix of art and structure shows up all through her work. She studied architecture and town planning at the Technion in Haifa, where she learned to think in space, form, and design before turning those habits toward fiction, poetry, and visual art.
At 25, she moved to Troy, New York, with her husband and two children. There she earned an M.A. in Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, after receiving a fellowship grant and a teaching assistantship, and later made an unexpected turn into computer science at the University of Michigan.
For a while, her working life looked less like a novelist's bio and more like several careers layered together. She worked first as an architect, then as a software engineer, team leader, manager, and consultant, with a focus on user interfaces for medical devices.
She kept making art the whole time.
Poznansky has also painted, sculpted, and taught art appreciation, and her artwork has been exhibited in Israel and California. That visual training matters, because even when she writes about war, illness, or family damage, the scenes tend to feel built, framed, and lit with an artist's eye.
Her books move across genres without much fuss. In The David Chronicles, beginning with Rise to Power, she retells the life of King David as an intimate first-person memoir, then pushes farther into guilt and power in A Peek at Bathsheba and The Edge of Revolt. In the Still Life with Memories books, including Apart From Love, The Music of Us, and The White Piano, she moves into family drama, romance, memory, and the long aftershocks of war and illness.
Then there is the suspense side of her work. Coma Confidential, Overkill, Overdose, and Overdue follow Ash through medical danger, crime, and recovery, while Virtually Lace brings virtual reality and murder investigation into the mix. Readers who stay with Poznansky from one series to another tend to find the same things waiting for them: strong visual detail, emotionally tangled relationships, and characters trying to think their way through trouble instead of simply outrunning it.
She also writes for younger readers, with Jess and Wiggle and Now I Am Paper, and she created a poetry and prose tribute in Home, which brings together her writing with translated poems by her father, Zeev Kachel. Her box sets Love Under Fire and Do No Harm reached the USA Today bestseller list, and A Touch of Passion won The Romance Reviews Readers' Choice Award in 2016.
Another thread is reinvention.
Poznansky has described herself as someone who paints with her pen and writes with her paintbrush, and that line gets at the way her careers keep crossing into one another. She has lived in the Los Angeles area, remained active as both writer and artist, and built a body of work that is hard to box into one shelf.
