Series background & context

Together We Fall is Katie May's apocalyptic series, but it is less about the end of the world in a big abstract sense and more about what survival looks like when everything familiar starts breaking at once. The heroine begins in a place that already feels trapped, living under harsh parents at a resort that becomes even more unbearable once the disasters start piling up.

Earthquakes hit. Tornadoes hit. A violent outbreak turns people into monsters.

From there, the books become a road-through-ruin story with a strong found-family core. The heroine ends up surrounded by seven very different men, and the appeal is not just that each one brings a different romantic dynamic. They each offer a different way of surviving the collapse. Some are steady. Some are cruel at first. Some are funny enough to keep panic at bay. Some come with their own damage and secrets.

That is why the series keeps working. Even with the world ending, the emotional center stays intimate. The group has to move, fight, make impossible calls, and keep choosing each other while everything around them gets worse. Katie May uses that pressure well. The apocalypse gives the plot momentum, but the relationships give it heart.

The setting is also broader than a simple zombie-style survival story. There are natural disasters, infected threats, hidden histories, and just enough mystery around the heroine and her companions to keep things from becoming one long chase scene. The books want both action and emotional fallout.

If you like your paranormal or fantasy romance with a heavy survival streak, Together We Fall is a strong fit. It is messy, dangerous, and surprisingly warm for a series where the world is actively coming apart.
