Through the Fire is an epic fantasy series set in Senkar and centered on Ruethwyn Sylaris, a young elven mage whose life is destroyed in a dragon attack. Her village is burned, her teacher is killed, and survivors are carried away by the dragon Resvarygrath. Among those taken is Anara, the girl Ruethwyn loves.

The stakes are personal from the first book. Ruethwyn wants Anara back, but the road toward that goal keeps revealing larger threats and deeper mysteries. Much of the series is about her growing into the person she needs to be.

The world of Senkar matters here. Different regions, magical traditions, old ruins, and political powers give the books an expansive adventure feel. The Avatar's Flames starts with the destruction of Ruethwyn's home and her decision to keep going. Queen of Ice and The Obsidian Palace carry the first phase of her quest forward. Later books, Obelisk of Blood, Temple of the Sun, and Circle of Ashes, broaden the conflict and bring the long-running tensions toward a conclusion.
