Beesong Chronicles Books in Order

The Beesong Chronicles is a lighter GameLit fantasy about Joy, an apis woman trying to find her place in a world that has suddenly become much larger than she imagined. The apis are a bee-inspired people created after one of the gods wins a game of divine poker. It is a wonderfully odd starting point, and the series has fun with it.

Joy begins close to her hive and its familiar routines. As she encounters new people, new dangers, and new possibilities, she has to work out what she wants from life beyond the role she expected to fill. Her journey is not just about becoming stronger. It is about belonging, independence, and deciding how much of home she wants to carry forward.

The rules are present, but they stay in the background.

Medrano describes the series as GameLit with very light mechanics. Readers will see the influence in its worldbuilding and progression, but the books do not stop constantly for stat screens or elaborate systems. The emphasis is on Joy's experiences, her friendships, and the wider web of hives, communities, and threats around her.

The early tone is notably more playful than some of Medrano's darker fantasy. That does not mean there are no stakes. As Joy's world expands, so do the problems she must face, and the consequences can reach beyond a single hive. Still, the series keeps a sense of warmth through its attention to companions, daily life, and Joy's sometimes uncertain path toward confidence.

Sting & Song introduces Joy and the apis. Webs & Wards widens the story and asks more of her, while Hives & Heroism brings the first major arc forward. Together, the books make a good choice for readers who enjoy monster-girl fantasy, unusual societies, and heroine-centered adventures with romance and community at their core.

Joy is not trying to be a legendary hero at first. The world simply keeps giving her reasons to become one.
