The Tomes of Kaleria Books in Order

The Tomes of Kaleria is built on one extremely stressful job. Tomes Masters are responsible for keeping track of ancient problems before they wake up and start ending the world. Apprentice Mei Li gets pushed into that responsibility far too early when her master vanishes and the tomes that hold the answers disappear with him.

That setup gives the series a strong sense of pressure from the beginning. Mei Li is clever and determined, but she is also very aware that she is underqualified for the disasters landing in her lap. Dragons help. Time travel, less so. Every book asks her to solve one impossible thing while several more are lining up behind it.

The worldbuilding has a good practical feel. Ancient magic is not treated like background scenery. It breaks walls, reshapes timelines, wakes sleeping threats, and forces people to reckon with history they only half understand. Tomes Apprentice kicks off the core problem, First of Tomes widens it through the past, and Master of Tomes turns survival into sustained magical triage.

Mei Li is what keeps the series grounded. She is funny, bookish, brave when she has to be, and very aware that reading all day sounded much nicer in theory than in practice.

If you like fantasy that mixes looming disasters, dragons, old records, and a lead who has to think her way through danger, this series has a lot to offer.
