Warlords sits inside the larger Advent Mage world, but it has its own identity from the start. Becca, Trev'nor, and Nolan go north for a mission that should be difficult but manageable. Instead they land in Khobunter, a place where magicians are treated like tools and cruelty is built into the system.

The desert setting matters a lot. Resources are scarce, allies are uncertain, and every victory carries logistical consequences. That gives the trilogy a different texture from the main Advent Mage books. It is still fantasy adventure, but it leans harder into leadership, territory, and the price of trying to change a whole country.
