Series background & context
The Shadow Realms is a paranormal romance series set in a world of magic, ancient beings, cursed places, and threats that cross the boundary between darkness and ordinary life. Each book centers on a couple, but the atmosphere of the shared world, inquisitors, supernatural factions, and dangerous old powers links them together.
Darkness has rules. Until it doesn't.
The series begins with Destined to the Wraith. Ronika needs an ancient relic from a cursed mansion to protect her ancestral land from a necromancer. Her only possible escort is Asheron, a wraith who has spent centuries lost to madness and feared as a monster. Their partnership brings both danger and a chance at restoration.
The later books expand the supernatural landscape through reapers, Lycans, doppelgangers, and powerful magic users. The stories often pair a heroine with a being whose nature is frightening, misunderstood, or difficult to control. Attraction is intense, but it never removes the outside danger. The characters must deal with necromancers, possession, disappearances, past trauma, and forces willing to use darkness for power.
The tone is dark fantasy with a romantic center. There are cursed buildings, bloodlust, ancient histories, and magical politics, but there is also humor and a strong focus on partners learning what safety looks like for each other. The heroes may be dangerous, yet the books repeatedly ask whether a person can be more than the role or curse they were given.
Start with Destined to the Wraith. Continue in order through Destined to the Reaper, Destined to the Lycan, and Destined to the Doppelganger for the clearest view of the expanding world and its recurring connections.
