Series background & context

The Regency Rebels books have a restless streak that sets them apart from quieter society romance. These are Regencies with movement in them, women on the run, foreign settings, war echoes, family secrets, and heroes who tend to arrive carrying complications rather than reassurance.

Venice, Spain, India, and travel across Europe give the series a broader canvas than the usual London season. That wider map lets McCabe blend romance with pursuit, mistaken identities, blackmail, and long-held misunderstandings. Even when the stakes are personal, the stories feel outward-looking.

The heroines are often pushing against the roles laid out for them, which makes the rebel label feel earned. If you like your Regency romance with more adventure than drawing-room wit, and you do not mind a little melodrama in the best old-fashioned sense, this is a strong mini-series to try.
