Series background & context

The Debutantes in Paris books take English heroines out of their usual drawing rooms and drop them into a city that feels brighter, riskier, and a little more freeing. Paris gives these stories their spark. It is fashionable, busy, and full of people who are not quite who they seem.

Across the series, McCabe follows women who are supposed to behave properly but keep getting drawn toward work, old feelings, hidden truths, or situations that demand more courage than decorum. That gives the books a nice mix of glamour and vulnerability. These heroines may be called wallflowers, governesses, or sheltered young ladies, but Paris keeps forcing them into motion.

The tone is romantic and accessible, with enough danger to keep the pages moving. Expect protectors who complicate everything, second chances that refuse to stay buried, and a city backdrop that makes every walk, party, and chance meeting feel charged. If you like historical romance with travel, social tension, and a little adventure, this series is an easy one to pick up.
