Series background & context
The Daughters of Erin, written as Laurel McKee, is one of McCabe's richest historical romance series. Set in Ireland around the turn of the nineteenth century, it follows the Blacknall sisters through love stories shaped by politics, loyalty, and the long strain between Ireland and England.
These books have a bigger emotional and historical canvas than a simple ballroom romance. Rebellion, occupation, and divided allegiance are not background decoration. They shape who the heroines can trust, what the heroes stand for, and what any future together might cost. That gives the romances a sharp edge from the first book onward.
The sisters themselves help hold the series together. They are strong, intelligent women, but not all in the same way.
