Series background & context

The Obsidian Saga begins with Obsidian Sky, a fantasy story about a world changed overnight when everyone receives powers beyond anything they expected. For Aidan, that change is both thrilling and frightening. He is orphaned, alone, and trying to make sense of a place that no longer follows familiar rules.

Aidan finds friendship among powerful warriors and forms a connection with the sorceress Leah Ainsley. But the promise of a new life does not last long. Dark forces are gathering, and Aidan's choices about power, revenge, love, and honor become harder to avoid.

This is fantasy with a personal center.

The series uses its big magical premise to keep the pressure close to its characters. Aidan is not simply handed a heroic role and told what to do. He has to decide what kind of person he will be when power offers him easier, harsher answers. That gives the story a mix of action, romance, and inner conflict.

The setting includes supernatural abilities, warriors, sorcerers, immortal enemies, and political tension. The books lean into the idea that enormous powers do not solve a person's old hurts or make moral choices simple. Relationships matter, and so do the consequences of using force.

Our Broken Fantasy returns to this world after Obsidian Sky. Read the books in order to follow Aidan's story and the changes that build from the first novel's upheaval.

For readers who like magical worlds where romance and high-stakes conflict run side by side, the Obsidian books offer a compact place to start with St Clair's fantasy fiction.
