The Mermen Trilogy Books in Order

This trilogy is much darker and stranger than the title first suggests. The so-called mermen here do not have tails or a Disney vibe. They are brutal, sea-bound warriors tied to the mysterious island of El Corazon, and the first book wastes very little time making that clear.

The story centers on Roen Doran, a rich and deeply selfish man who inherits the island, and Liv Stratton, a shipwreck survivor who reaches it thinking she has been saved. Instead, both walk straight into a place with its own rules, its own violence, and a long-buried history that keeps getting worse the more they uncover.

The island is the real engine of the series.

It is beautiful, hostile, and not entirely what it seems. The trilogy leans hard into captivity, survival, shifting loyalties, and the question of what love looks like in a place built on power. Roen and Liv change a lot across the three books, and the later installments widen the conflict rather than shrinking it. Read this if you want dark fantasy romance with cliffhangers, danger, and a setting that feels almost like a character in its own right.
