Series background & context

The Love Family is one of Kate Allenton's lighter paranormal romance series, but it still keeps a mystery thread running through the middle. The books are set around a close-knit family whose members each carry their own unusual gift, and that shared secret gives the romances an extra layer of tension.

Love Island is a big part of the appeal. The setting has the small-community feel that lets family history, old crushes, business trouble, and local danger all bump into one another. Shops, homes, island routines, and familiar faces make the series feel cozy even when a stalker, a killer, or a bad decision starts shaking things up.

The family stays in everybody's business, usually for good reason.

Each book focuses on a different Love sibling or someone tightly connected to the family. Their gifts vary, but they all shape how the characters move through the world. Some can read energy. Some are empaths. Some simply know more than they should. Those abilities help them spot trouble, but they also make normal relationships harder than they ought to be.

The tone is warmer and more overtly romantic than in Allenton's darker suspense lines. Readers can expect second chances, protective heroes, quick chemistry, and short, fast-moving plots that still make room for danger. Even when the stories turn serious, the overall mood stays rooted in family, attraction, and the idea of home.

If you want psychic family romance with light suspense and a beach-town feel, start with Skylar. Reading in order works best because the family dynamics and side relationships keep carrying forward.
