Carrington-Hill Investigations Books in Order

Carrington-Hill Investigations sits a little closer to straight romantic suspense than some of Kate Allenton's more openly paranormal series. The setup is polished and high-stakes, with FBI agents, private investigators, missing operatives, wealthy suspects, and danger that moves through boardrooms as easily as crime scenes.

The first book follows Lexi Carrington, an FBI agent pulled back toward the world she has tried to leave behind when one of her closest friends disappears while undercover. That gives the series one of its strongest hooks right away. The cases are not abstract puzzles. They are tied to loyalty, friendship, and people the characters care about.

That personal angle does a lot of the heavy lifting.

The tone is sleek but emotional. The investigations move through corporate secrets, social connections, and carefully hidden motives, while the romances grow under pressure. The heroes are capable men with resources and blind spots. The heroines are smart, stubborn, and not especially interested in being protected unless there is a very good reason.

Because there are only a couple of books in the series, the pacing stays tight. There is not much wandering. Each story drops the characters into a dangerous situation, lets attraction complicate everything, and then keeps turning the screw until the truth comes out.

If you like your suspense with missing agents, powerful suspects, and couples forced to work together before they fully trust each other, this is a solid fit. Start with Deception, then move to Deadly Desire.
