Series background & context
The Tempt Me books are Avery Flynn in glossy, high-stakes mode. These stories move away from small-town chaos and sports headlines and into a world of hidden royals, secret agents, mob families, blackmail, and fake engagements that can go wrong in far bigger ways than social embarrassment.
The scale is part of the appeal. In His Undercover Princess, the heroine is hiding from the people who murdered her family, while the hero wants to restore her to a throne she has no desire to claim. In Her Enemy Protector, an agent and a mobster's stepdaughter are forced into an arrangement that is equal parts investigation and survival. In both books, the external danger is real, and the romance grows under pressure.
That pressure gives the series a different feel from Flynn's lighter rom-com work. The books are still sexy and quick-moving, but the tension comes from secrecy, politics, and the fact that a bad choice can cost more than a bruised ego. The heroes are protectors by trade or necessity. The heroines have a lot more on the line than a dating disaster.
Even so, these are still Flynn books. The women push back. The attraction is sharp. Nobody falls into place neatly. If you like romantic suspense with glamorous settings, strong chemistry, and enough danger to keep the plot racing, Tempt Me is a good fit.
