Series background & context

B-Squad is where Avery Flynn leans hardest into romantic suspense without losing her sense of humor. These books are built around investigations, undercover work, missing people, cults, cartel trouble, stolen diamonds, and the kind of danger that keeps the pace moving even when the characters would really rather stay in bed.

The series revolves around Bianca Sutherland, Taz Hazard, and the security-and-investigation orbit around them. Because of that, the books feel more serialized than some of Flynn's rom-com lines. You can read them one by one, but in order is especially rewarding here because the relationships and the team dynamic keep building.

What makes B-Squad work is the balance. The plots have teeth, but the books never turn cold. Flynn still makes room for teasing, sexual tension, stubborn heroines, and heroes who are good in a crisis but often terrible at explaining their feelings. The action and the romance feed each other instead of competing.

Bullet Proof and Brazen give you the Bianca and Taz backbone, while Bang widens the circle with a runaway heroine, a teenage niece to protect, and a cult-linked chase. Blade shifts into a hockey-adjacent setup with theft and framing at the center. Trouble adds a small-town reunion, old heartbreak, and very unwelcome criminals.

That range is part of the fun. One book might lean more undercover. Another might feel more like lovers on the run. Another uses a homecoming setup to pull old emotional wounds back to the surface. The constant is that somebody is in danger and somebody else is going to be far too attractive while trying to fix it.

If you like romantic suspense that does not take itself too seriously, this series delivers. There is real danger, but there is also wit, heat, and a strong sense that the people at the center of the story can talk their way into just as much trouble as the villains can.
