She accepts, takes the name Talyn, and arrives in Garloth with the goddess Melody as her companion. Her new life comes with game-like mechanics, unexpected complications, and a body that makes her the first succubus the world has seen.

Talyn was not from Earth to begin with. Her old life came from a cyberpunk fantasy dystopia, which gives her a different set of instincts and expectations than a standard transported hero. She wants a better life, not a throne or a grand destiny. That personal goal helps give the series its relaxed, character-first shape even when larger events begin crowding in.
