Sweet, Texas Books in Order

The Sweet, Texas series is built around a tiny Texas town with a misleading name. Sweet may sound gentle, but the books are full of stubborn people, old hurts, family complications, and a lot of chemistry. The main thread runs through the Wilder family and the people connected to them, with each book focusing on a different couple while the town itself stays constant, nosy, loyal, and impossible to ignore.

The core novels begin with Anything But Sweet, where a TV makeover show rolls into town and crashes headfirst into Reno Wilder's resistance to change. Sweetest Mistake brings back Jackson Wilder and his first love, Abby Morgan, for a second-chance romance with plenty of history behind it. Something Sweeter follows Jesse Wilder and Allison Lane, a wedding planner who arrives in Sweet deeply skeptical about love. Sweet Surprise shifts to Fiona Wilder and firefighter Mike Halsey, while Truly Sweet closes the main Wilder run with Annie Morgan and Jake Wilder. Along the way, Terry also folds in two connected novellas, Sweet Cowboy Christmas and Home Sweet Home.

What makes the series work is the town itself. Sweet is the kind of place where people show up on your porch, family dinners turn into emotional ambushes, and nobody stays anonymous for long. There is a Main Street heart to these books, but there is also a rougher edge. Several of the heroes have military backgrounds. Some are carrying grief. Others are dealing with bad marriages, broken trust, or the fear that they have already used up their one shot at happiness.

If you like small-town contemporary romance with heat, humor, wounded heroes, and heroines who know their own minds, Sweet is a very easy place to stay for a while. These books can stand alone, but they are most satisfying when read as one long visit with a family that argues hard, loves hard, and eventually learns how to let new people in.
