Series background & context
The Stage Dive series is Kylie Scott’s loud, tattooed love letter to rock and roll. Each book follows a different member of the fictional band Stage Dive as they crash through fame, bad decisions, and complicated relationships on the way to a hard‑won happily ever after.
It all kicks off in Lick, when quiet architecture student Evelyn wakes up in a Las Vegas bathroom with a monster hangover, a huge diamond on her finger, and very little memory of the night before. The half‑naked guy beside her turns out to be David Ferris, guitarist and songwriter for Stage Dive. Their impulsive, not‑quite‑remembered wedding sets off a wild ride through paparazzi, family drama, and real feelings under the chaos.
Play moves the spotlight to Mal Ericson, the band’s drummer and resident chaos gremlin. He needs a fake girlfriend to smooth his public image; Anne, the cash‑strapped neighbour who’s worshipped the band from afar, needs help with money and a place to stay. Their pretend arrangement quickly blurs into something real as Mal’s manic humour gives way to vulnerability and Anne proves she’s not the quiet pushover he expected.
In Lead, lead singer Jimmy Ferris is freshly out of rehab and on his last chance. The label hires Lena as his live‑in assistant and unofficial sober companion, expecting her to keep him out of trouble. Jimmy doesn’t want a babysitter, Lena isn’t impressed with his rock‑god attitude, and their forced proximity slow‑burns into one of the most emotionally charged pairings in the series.
Deep follows Ben, the laid‑back bass player, and Lizzy, the off‑limits little sister of one of the band’s closest friends. A single reckless night in Vegas leads to an unplanned pregnancy and a lot of awkward conversations. Ben has to figure out if he’s capable of being more than the carefree guy who never settles, while Lizzy refuses to be treated as anyone’s mistake.
Novellas like Strong, Closer, Love Song, and The Rhythm Method dip back into the Stage Dive world. You’ll see the band’s head of security fall for a reformed troublemaker, a bodyguard protect a plus‑size model from a stalker, a breakout rock star confront the ex who inspired his angriest songs, and David and Evelyn years later, facing a surprise pregnancy of their own.
What ties the series together is a strong sense of found family. The band, their partners, and their inner circle show up in each other’s stories with running jokes, shared history, and plenty of interference. The tone is funny and sometimes filthy, but the emotional beats—around addiction, loyalty, and second chances—hit hard.
If you like rockstar romance with sharp banter and a whole crew you’ll want to hang out with, Stage Dive is where to dive in.
