Author bio

Kylie Scott grew up in Australia with a book almost always in her hands and a notebook close by. As a kid she devoured everything from Anne of Green Gables to Jane Austen, and those early obsessions with romance, character, and wit never really left.

For years, writing was the thing she squeezed in around real life. She ran a floral shop in a small country town, serving locals during the day and opening her laptop in the quiet stretches to see if she could finally finish a book. Around 2007 she decided to take the craft seriously, signing up for classes at her state writing centre, joining critique groups, and learning how to pull apart and rebuild a story instead of treating every first draft as sacred.

Her first completed manuscript, a big paranormal romance, stayed in the drawer. The first book to reach readers was Flesh, a post‑zombie‑apocalypse romance set in Australia. It blended survival stakes, found family, and high‑heat relationships, and it quietly built a cult following. Scott followed it with Skin and several Flesh‑world shorts, proving she could balance gore, tension, and tenderness on the same page.

Music was the other big love she carried from her teens, so it was probably inevitable that she’d end up writing about a rock band. The Stage Dive series—starting with Lick and its infamous Vegas wedding—took her from a small but loyal audience to New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists. A spin‑off, Dive Bar, moved the action to a small Idaho town but kept the tattoos, banter, and tight‑knit group dynamics readers had fallen for.

Rather than stay in one lane, Scott kept experimenting. She wrote Trust, a gritty upper‑YA about two teenagers who survive an armed robbery and have to rebuild their lives after trauma. With Repeat and Pause, she created the Larsen Brothers books—emotion‑heavy, contemporary romances about amnesia, recovery, and second chances. More recently she’s leaned into twisty rom‑coms with a speculative edge in books like End of Story and The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck, where time slips and prophecies nudge very human characters into big decisions.

Across all of those subgenres, some threads stay the same. Her stories are driven by flawed people who swear too much, make bad choices, and then slowly figure out how to do better. There’s usually found family in the background, a lot of dry humour on the page, and at least one scene where someone finally says the thing they’ve been avoiding for far too long.

Scott is a hybrid author, comfortable both with traditional publishers and with putting books out on her own. That mix lets her write across rockstar romance, small‑town love stories, YA, paranormal, and even end‑of‑the‑world settings without being boxed in by one imprint or format.

These days she lives and works in Queensland, on land traditionally owned by the Jagera people. Home is shared with her husband, two children, and more books than shelves. When she’s not drafting, she’s usually reading, noodling on a guitar, or falling down research rabbit holes for the next idea.

What keeps her coming back to romance is simple: she likes stories where people face down chaos—zombies, fame, grief, or just their own fears—and still choose each other in the end.
