2017
Bearded bartender Joe logs into his brother’s dating profile to shut it down and instead starts emailing with sharp, funny graphic designer Alex. When Alex flies across the country to surprise the man she thinks she’s been chatting with, she finds Joe instead—and has to decide whether to forgive a painful deception.
Dirty
by Kylie Scott
2016
On her wedding day Lydia discovers her fiancé is cheating with his best man and flees in full bridal gear, climbing through a stranger’s bathroom window. The stranger is Vaughan, ex‑musician and Dive Bar bartender, whose offer of a couch quickly turns into something warmer as they rebuild their lives from rock bottom.
Series background & context
The Dive Bar series is set in the same universe as Stage Dive, but trades tour buses for a scruffy bar and restaurant in small‑town Idaho. The books are contemporary romances with plenty of humour, found family, and messy real‑life problems.
In Dirty, Lydia discovers on her wedding day that her groom is sleeping with his best man. Still in her bridal gown, she bolts over a fence and straight into the nearest house—where she ends up hiding in the bathtub of Vaughan Hewson. Vaughan is a former guitarist whose band has imploded; he’s back in his hometown to figure out what’s next and help at the family bar. Taking in a runaway bride isn’t part of the plan, but Lydia’s blend of heartbreak and sarcasm proves hard to resist.
Twist centers on Joe Collins, a bearded bartender and reluctant online dater who logs into his younger brother’s dating account just to shut it down. Instead, he finds a profile that stops him in his tracks. He and graphic designer Alex Parks start trading long emails and confessions—only she thinks she’s talking to his brother. When Alex shows up at the Dive Bar to surprise her online crush, she finds the wrong man waiting, and the fallout is as awkward as it is entertaining.
In Chaser, Eric Collins is the resident bad boy: charming, unreliable, and more interested in hookups than responsibility. After years of being told he’s not “boyfriend material,” he decides to clean up his act—just in time for heavily pregnant newcomer Jean to roll into town. Jean is determined to build a steady, quiet life for herself and her baby, far away from the chaos of her past. Eric, equally determined not to be that guy around a vulnerable single mother, ends up being the one she calls when labour starts during a snowstorm. Their friendship, forged in midnight feeds and shared exhaustion, slowly turns into something neither of them planned.
The bar itself acts as a hub: staff, regulars, and extended Stage Dive family members drift in and out, bringing jokes, arguments, and backup when everything hits the fan. The tone is a little quieter and more grounded than Stage Dive, but still full of sharp banter and big feelings.
If you like small‑town settings where everyone knows your business, grumpy bartenders with soft centers, and crossovers with the Stage Dive crew, the Dive Bar novels are an easy place to settle in.
