Author bio
Stacey Marie Brown writes the kind of stories she loves to read, full of hot troublemakers, sharp‑tongued heroines, and worlds that tilt just a little toward the wild side. She is a USA Today bestselling author of paranormal and contemporary romance whose books blend fantasy stakes with very human hearts.
She grew up in Northern California on a family farm, spending her childhood riding horses, caring for animals, playing flashlight tag, and turning hay bales into forts. That mix of open space, hard work, and imagination shows up all over her books, from lonely backroads to sprawling magical kingdoms.
Storytelling started early for her. Before she could put sentences on paper, she was inventing elaborate plots and characters. As she got older, that love of story wound its way through acting, traveling, interior and set design, and finally back to the page. She has talked about writing at night after long days on design projects, slowly building the worlds that would become her first published series.
Her breakout came with Darkness of Light, the beginning of an urban‑fantasy saga about Ember Brycin and Eli Dragen, where fae politics, prophecy, and first love collide in the rainy Pacific Northwest. That book opened the door to a whole interconnected universe: the Darkness series, the City in Embers Collector books, the Lightness Saga and, later, the darker fae wars of Savage Lands.
Across those fantasy series she returns to some favorite ingredients. There are hidden courts and corrupt rulers, brutal prisons and rebel cells, but also sarcastic banter, found families, and romances that grow out of shared damage as much as attraction. Readers who start with Ember and Eli can follow threads of characters and lore all the way to Brexley and Warwick in Savage Lands or the pirate adventures of Croygen and Katrina in Silver Tongue Devil.
Brown also writes grounded, contemporary romance that leaves the magic behind but keeps the emotional intensity. Books like Shattered Love and its companion novels follow young people learning to live again after life‑changing accidents. Buried Alive, The Unlucky Ones, and How The Heart Breaks take on grief, illness, class, and taboo relationships in small towns and snowy resorts, always centering messy, complicated people rather than neat morals.
A few threads run through almost everything she writes. Her characters are often carrying old trauma or deep guilt. Animals and the natural world are treated with care. Love is rarely easy, and when it does arrive it tends to demand sacrifice, honesty, and a willingness to face the ugliest parts of yourself.
These days she lives in the Pacific Northwest, where rain and forest feel right at home with the fae worlds in her head. When she is not drafting or revising, she might be out hiking, binging a new TV obsession, playing with her dog Cooper, planning her next trip, or rearranging a room just because the design itch hit again. Through it all, she keeps coming back to the same basic joy: building worlds, breaking hearts a little, and then putting them back together on the page.
